Now £90 you could live with. I reckon if you go with a shipping price of about £110 you should be ok. But of course this is all just speculation.

I would certainly say that Tanakas are too expensive, especially in this country. Like Imp says the MG34 won't actually be £380 here will it? A tanaka is $450 from HK but Uk retailers charge £350-£400. So the MG34 would work out at about what; at least £550 UK retail and maybe £450 imported (if you're lucky)? Thats enough to make anyone think twice about getting one. Besides the lack of affordable weapons is holding back the WW2 scene right now so I'm not going to snear at any gun that improves the situation.

Ouch. Some quick and dirty maths shows that importing one will still cost you in the region or 590 quid - (including shipping, Tax & Duty, and "handling fee")

Which makes UK retailers selling it around the 700 mark quite a realistic prospect :(

True, now my maths is shite, so I based it on the CA m249 which was £799 and the BAR which I believe was £800 or so. Given that WW2 is the hot topic at the mo, retailers will grab us by the Bettys, so AGM MG42 come on down.

Hmm, I doubt people will be running out to buy them at that price. Lets just hope it lives up to expectations so its worth the money.

which then begs the question, would it be cheaper to build one from scratch?

No surprise at the BAR price, VFC designed it from the ground up after all, but CA had no excuse for pricing the M249 at such a level. The body is a copy of the TOP M249, and the gearbox is a copy of PGC's M249 'box (2nd or 3rd generation - cant remember which!), so they had precisely bugger all R&D costs.

Bear in mind this is a chinese airsoft product and not high quality Japanese kit. When you look at the A&K M249; full steel, effective, reliable, includes electric box mag and all for £200 from uk retailers. A price of <£400 should be possible. Guess we will have to wait and see.. and hope!

Thing is, this isn't going to bring in any new ww2 converts, it's purely for the likes of us who are already into it. The lack of affordable, skirmishable 'regular' weapons is what's holding the scene back, support weapons are purely a bonus...

I dont entirely agree with that, I think there would be plenty who would buy the weapon first for its sheer cool and wow factor and then build a WW2 loadout to go with it. When I brought my Shoei MG42 over 3 years ago it was to convert it to an MG3 to use with my then usual Bundeswehr loadout, I added a RS MG3 feed tray and 100rd boxmag etc to make it an MG3. I then thought it would be nice to have WW2 loadout as an alternative and use it as an MG42 and I then built up my ww2 kit from there and the rest is history... pitty I had to sell it before the WW2 scene really took off.

Looking very nice. no feed tube in evidence in those pics, I wonder if they will feed via the shell ejection port below the feed tray?

Actually, scratch that, :slap: on closer inspection you can just see a feed port on top of the hop unit, just infront of the back edge of the feed tray!

Thats the shell ejector port dust cover on the R.S I believe. not sure why they used an M4 dust cover? R.S one is just a plain flat plate!

maybe they use the same kinda mag as found on the gas shui types ?? be handy if they did, 250 mm bags would be nice and realistic,

looking very nice, be handy for bunker guns ;)

God I hope not, they really sucked! very unreliable feeding and a pain to reload. whilst I wouldnt want a huge 3000rd box mag, a nice 600-1000rd assault drum would be ideal.
